Georgetown University Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate (MPS/RE) Career Fair
| Georgetown University invites RICS members and guests to participate in the Georgetown University Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate (MPS/RE) Career Fair on Wednesday March 2 and Thursday March 3, 2011. This two-day program will give real estate firms the opportunity to promote their firms to the Georgetown University real estate community and beyond, as well as to meet MPS/RE students and get to know the ones of greatest interest to your firm. Date: March 2 - 3, 2011 Time: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Location: Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies 3101 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 200 Arlington, VA (Immediately north of the exit of the Clarendon stop on Metro’s Orange Line, just 2 miles from the Georgetown Main Campus) Cost: There is no cost to participate in the Career Fair. Additional details can be found below. If interested, please contact Real Estate Associate Dean Chuck Schilke at cns28@georgetown.edu. Underground parking is available in the 3101 Wilson Building. MPS/RE will provide representatives of participating firms with continental breakfast and lunch each of the two days, as well as light snacks and drinks throughout the day. Further details will be provided to participants. All 280 MPS/RE students have been invited to the Career Fair so that participating firms potentially have access to all 280 students. The Fair is particularly intended to benefit the 30 MPS/RE students who graduated by the end of the Fall 2010 Semester, and the 45 MPS/RE students who will be graduating at the end of the Spring 2011 Semester. Participating real estate firms may have booths promoting their firms, offer interviews to MPS/RE students, or both, as described below. Booths. In the well-appointed main space of Suite 200, Georgetown University will have tables set up divided into spaces suitable for participating real estate firms to promote their firms with whatever exhibition materials they prefer. They will also provide chairs behind the tables for the comfort of those representing the firms. MPS/RE students will circulate throughout Suite 200 to engage the firm representatives at each booth. Interviews. Georgetown University has reserved a number of private offices in Suite 200 where firms may interview MPS/RE students at half-hour intervals. Firms may select the MPS/RE students they wish to interview, and may interview as many or as few MPS/RE students as they wish. While Metro DC particularly appears to be emerging from the Great Recession, all of us in the real estate industry know that it remains a time of great uncertainty. For firms unsure of their hiring needs which have time, Georgetown University recommends that they interview MPS/RE students on at least an informational basis at the Career Fair, so that they may identify the talent that best suits their needs and save themselves time later as the economy fully recovers. Resume Book PDFs. MPS/RE students who so wish will submit their resumes to MPS/RE staff, which will be gathered into resume books and sent in PDF format to the firms participating in the Career Fair. This will enable firms to select the students that they particularly wish to interview, as well as to allow firm representatives to spend time in their booths with students of the greatest interest to their firm. MPS/RE Curriculum. For further background, under separate cover Georgetown University will send you a copy of the MPS/RE Academic Planning Document, which describes the MPS/RE curriculum in depth, so that you may fully understand the practical commercial real estate education that MPS/RE students are experiencing, and how it can most benefit your firm. |
