US Green Building Council (USGBC) Maryland will be presenting a private workshop to the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, Edward St. John Real Estate Department; “Understanding USGBC, LEED, and Green Building.”

This workshop is an introduction to green building, specifically related to LEED certification and Commercial Real Estate. It will provide fundamental information related to the implementation of green building, utilizing the LEED Ratings Systems with the intention of project certification. Topics covered will be:

• Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Green Building.
• Green Building Laws & Policy in Maryland and Local Jurisdictions.
• Case Study of a LEED Project - Detailed Review of a LEED Checklist.

Attendees will gain insight into LEED v3, released April 2009. This baseline knowledge is invaluable to all facets of the real estate industry. It will also be useful to those who would like to further pursue the LEED Green Associate accreditation exam.

Workshop is limited to 35 participants. Registrations must be received by October 30, 2009.
