| Kim M. Kobriger MRICS CCIM Ph.D. and local Chair of Membership for the RICS South Central Chapter was one of four judges invited by the Texas A&M University Department of Construction Science in their first ever Case Study of Ethics using the American Institute of Constructors (AIC) Code of Ethics for Constructors. In the contest, teams of three or four undergraduates were judged on both written and oral presentations on a case study. The case study presented a real world scenario in which the Can Do Construction Company was bidding for the construction contract of a local not-for-profit company that trained people for construction jobs. The case involved ascertaining whether or not violations occurred of the following code of ethics: confidential information, deceptive practices, the use of insider information, providing unbiased and fair advice as a professional, the divulging of confidential information, and whether malicious information was used that injured the professional reputation of others. The winning team attended the annual Department of Construction Science dinner where undergraduate awards were presented. The construction education program at Texas A&M University was established in 1946. Undergraduate students receive a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science. Current enrollment in the undergraduate program is approximately 600 students. The undergraduate program at Texas A&M University is accredited by the Council on Construction Education (ACCE) and was one of the first accredited programs of construction higher education in the United States.
