RICS Americas names John Hughes FRICS as chair of Canadian Board

New York and Toronto, February 23 2009 - RICS Americas today announced that John Hughes FRICS has been elected chairman of RICS Americas Canadian Board for 2009-2010. Mr. Hughes takes over from David Greenwood FRICS. RICS Americas is the New York City-based division of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), London, UK, the largest global organization for professionals in property, land, construction and related environmental issues.

Mr. Hughes, founding partner of Hemson Consulting Ltd in Toronto has previously served as Chair of RICS Americas East Canada Chapter where he presided over substantial growth in membership and led the highly successful Toronto Development Series to prominence. "It is a real honor to follow David Greenwood as Chairman. He undoubtedly has helped to grow our membership in the region and raise awareness of our prestigious membership organization. We will continue to build on David's accomplishments by working toward more events, research and business development opportunities."
