Americas - The Past, Present and Future of the Arizona State Land Department On Thursday 18 November, the Southwest Chapter of RICS Americas held a breakfast meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. 20 delegates attended to hear Maria Baier, Arizona State Land Commissioner, speak about the past, present and future of local land development. Neil Shah, RICS Director of North America, provided the attendees with an update on RICS' global strategy and key initiatives to develop membership and build brand recognition in the United States. RICS Americas Southwest US Chapter is centered on the Phoenix market, which in recent years has been a hot-bed for residential and commercial real estate development activities. It is also one of the areas of the country most impacted by the recession and persistent real estate downturn.
